In the high-stakes world of Naval Nuclear Engineering and Manufacturing, Cogitic has carved out a reputation for handling the most daunting challenges.

Founded by Jared Veteto along with his brother over 15 years ago as a research and development firm, the company has specialized expertise in designing and making cannot-fail components for nuclear submarines. Driven by a relentless pursuit of excellence, both in life and work, Jared came to Marketing Metal with a clear and ambitious vision: to grow Cogitic into a beacon of exceptional quality and value, known for leadership in the industry.

The company’s relationship-centric business model and dedication to quality and customer service had gotten them this far, but Cogitic’s digital presence was lagging. For the brand to drive into new depths, its online look and message needed to reflect its cutting-edge capabilities and show the true gravity of the work the team’s dedication to getting it right.

Like most manufacturing companies these days, attracting new talent was one of the main goals. And since Jared is very involved in day-to-day operations and the team as a whole is stretched thin, the other goal was to build a marketing machine and a stockpile of content that could run without much input from them.

 
 
 
 

At the core of Cogitic’s identity was a unique name, a combination of Cognitive innovation and Kinetic energy. Playing to these strengths, we used impactful and descriptive language that brings their unique mission to the forefront.

Spending two days in person with Cogitic, we captured beautiful photography and video of the team in their element which also gave us a deeper feel for their personality and approach to the work. To build their brand, we supplemented this imagery with carefully selected stock photography and video footage of US Submarines and Submariners at work. This makes it clear who Cogitic serves and shows that the company is always thinking about the end users of their products.

Since most of the parts that Cogitic makes are spherical or round, we used a lot of circular design elements in their brand, creating a truly unique and sophisticated look. Just as Submariners map out their mission before setting sail, we mapped out the website’s journey to lead visitors through the information using clear calls to action and simple navigation.

 
 

While onsite, we interviewed Jared along with 6 members of his team so we could assemble a compelling brand video (below) along with an exciting careers video that shows off their knights-of-the-round-table-esque company culture. The chosen music scores allude to the seriousness of the work they do and are in sync with impressive shots of the team machining giant parts and working together to solve problems.

 
 
 
 

In addition, we designed two new brochures (one general and one specific to their new technical services offerings), branded t-shirts and stickers, and social media post templates so that Cogitic can be recognized wherever they go. We revamped their social media pages with definitive descriptions and authoritative bios, spotlighting their unique position in the industry, and scheduled out a month’s worth of content for them.

Cogitic loves their new brand! At a team Lunch & Learn just after launching the website, one of the newest employees said that it makes him that much more proud of where he works.
