Who is behind Marketing Metal?

Marketing Metal is the brainchild of Emily Joann Wilkins–a sharp, shiny, magnetic marketer with #jobshoplife in her blood who saw an opportunity to make an impact. She noticed new shops popping up and old shops leveling up, and experience told her that they needed a new approach. Strategically partnering with talented people for specific projects, her methods ensure that customers get exactly what they need.

Emily is a writer, professional speaker, and entrepreneur with over 15 years of experience helping small businesses, mostly job shops, reach their business goals through strategic branding, positioning, and marketing. Earning her Bachelor of Science Degree from Kettering University (formerly GMI) in Business Administration & Marketing, Emily graduated with honors. Her studies included LEAN manufacturing and management with German OEMs and she gained 2.5 years of full-time marketing and R&D experience as a co-op student working for manufacturers of children’s toys, airplanes, and marine maintenance products.

Living close to the Saugatuck Dunes State Park, Emily and her husband spend most of their free time outdoors–swimming, hiking, sailboat racing, skiing, taking their doggos to the big lake, feeding the chickens, cooking out with family, and groovin’ to a Spotify playlist.

The manufacturing sector is changing fast. Are you ready?

98.6% of manufacturing companies in the US are small businesses–and 75.3% of these small shops have fewer than 20 employees!¹

Yet 89% say they’re struggling to hire the help they need to keep up with demand.¹

One of the top reasons cited for this is a glaring misperception of what manufacturing jobs look like today. I’m on a mission to change that.

I love what I do because I know it matters. My clients love working with me because they can tell. If you’re here, that means you want to do something that matters too. Let’s show ‘em just how RAD job shops can be!
